My boss and I did pretty much all of the merchandise designs for the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans this year. It was kind of insane. But I was in charge of creating the t-shirt for the children’s section this year, called ‘VOOBOO.’ So here’s the design for the t-shirt, starring the fake monster rock band The Boogie-Woogies with Lu-C the vampire on guitar, Bruce the werewolf on vocals, and Sid the Frankenstein’s Monster on bass. Mmtcha mmtcha mmtcha!

And here’s the Dixie Beer Blackened Voodoo Lager actual shirt. I think we’re going to try and blow up the illustration SUPER BIG on the next run (possibly), which will be awesome. Also, I have officially resigned any future as a t-shirt model - I made my bosses cut my head out of the photo because I couldn’t stop making weird muppet faces. Such is life.

This is some neat shit. We did a shirt for Dixie Beer’s Blackened Voodoo Lager promotion and I got to do the illustration for the background of the shirt. I like when my job means getting to draw pictures that I’d draw for fun on my own time anyway.

Sometimes I get commissioned to do some really fun stuff. This is a portrait of The Lady of the Manners from the Gothic Charm School (http://www.gothic-charm-school.com/). She lives up to her reputation as one of the most pleasant people I’ve ever had the luck to work with. The articles on her website are really interesting, too, regardless of whether you consider yourself a goth or not.

The latest commission. 24x36, acrylics. She said it had to be somewhat about a story, and there should be cats and books somewhere in it, and we decided that the horse that the girl was riding in my original sketch should be turned into a two-headed wolf. As you do. It was really fun, if ridiculous, and when my dad saw it he said that although he’d never hang it up in the house he thought it was pretty neat. So there you go.

This is a painting I did for my friends Andy and Stephanie’s wedding a few weeks ago. They told me to paint them something weird. So now they have a triptych of a zombie giving a heart to a robot to hang in their new apartment. As you do! I am really glad that I have friends that actually dig getting Zombie-Robot-Love paintings as wedding gifts.

Monster Map! We had to redesign a map of the United States so I made all of the states into monsters (complete with terrible monster pun names). What is up, T-Rexas! I have some prints of it available for sale up at Imagekind which you can get to if you click on the picture. To see some larger versions of the monster map, feel free to check it out here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blaynewithawhy/3328703565/.

The zombie (nicknamed Frank) from my ‘NOCTURN’ senior project.

The zombie (nicknamed Frank) from my ‘NOCTURN’ senior project.

Here are a couple of monsters I used in my senior project for my graphic design degree. I made up a what-if scenario if monsters lived among us in everyday life and marketed a cosmetics company called ‘NOCTURN’ to the monsters, called ‘Nocturnals.’ These are two of the illustrations I made for the project, completely made in Photoshop.
