Blayne With a Why!

Just finished watching the first series of Downton Abbey yesterday. It’s on Netflix Instant, if you want to check it out, and you should, because it’s GREAT for a whole lot of reasons I won’t go into here because we all have to leave the internet SOMETIME. 

I find Mary very fascinating, and a little surprised that she’s turned out to be my favorite character. The show is full of excellent female characters, but she is written to be intentionally difficult to love. She’s complicated and sometimes cruel and vain and is really the pinpoint for the show to look into how the crumbling class system and the upcoming women’s rights movement clash, and doesn’t know where she really fits into either.

Also she looks great in top hats.
